It's been 3 weeks since we started recording songs for the album at Snakeweed Studios. So far, we've completed "Lollipop", "Stranger", "Crowded" and "If It Wasn't For You".
As expected, recording has been a tedious and challenging process. Tedious due to the long hours, and challenging in terms of how we now have to think out of the box. Leonard (our producer) commented that some parts of our songs sound somewhat empty, so we need to think of how we can add more layers to them.
Not the easiest thing to do, considering how we've become so familiar with the songs as they currently are.
Next weekend will see us recording "Go Away" and "Hold On", while we'll continue to brainstorm for song lyrics, cover art concepts and that elusive album title. We're also thinking of launching the album in the last quarter of the year.
As for gigs, we're about to have our first one for 2008. Come February 19th, we'll be performing at a kick-ass rock festival to be held within NTU. Watch this space for upcoming details!

King Kong Jane featuring Syai from S.P.O.N.G.E.
We haven't got any gigs lined up for this month, but in the meantime, here's a video of a song we performed at The Heeren last year...
A cover of Muse's "Time Is Running Out", which features Syai from S.P.O.N.G.E. as our guest bassist!

1 down, ? to go
After 8 long hours with Leonard in the studio, we've finished recording "Stranger" and "Lollipop"! 2 songs in 1 recording session is a good thing, considering how we're now a whopping $560 poorer.
Early ang baos for us anyone?
Anyway, some changes have been made to the bridge of "Stranger", while "My Brown Lollipop" is henceforth known simply as "Lollipop". If things go according to plan, we should be having our second recording session next Saturday. We'll also be attending a Noise Singapore gathering at Night & Day (139 Selegie Road) next Wednesday, so look forward to photos from the event!

Those shoes just got bigger
"If I had to place my bets on a local band selling out the indoor stadium, it would be king kong jane. But they need more time to polish up their sound and for the singapore music scene to heat up further.
I just hope that king kong jane would not give up/slow down the place of their work... If they kep going at it,maybe in 5/10 years they would really sell out the indoor stadium. Some other bands had the potential, but they stopped playing too early..."

First Recording this Saturday!
Hi all, apologies for not posting enough entries recently. It's the start of a new year and we are all busy tuning ourselves away from the festive mood all over again. Ian has been busy at his new workplace as an engineer while the rest of us are preparing for the very last semester of our undergrad life.
Well we will be putting our emphasis on recording for our new album, starting this saturday at Snakeweed Studios with the established local producer, Leonard Soosay. Wish us luck with our very first recording! Meanwhile we will be doing less gigs so we can breathe easy amidst all the many commitments we have for the next half a year or so!
Please take care of yourselves and have a fabulous 2008 ahead of you! Please so not forget us even when we are performing less for this period!!! =) KKJ wants your love!

Big shoes to fill
"Mainstream indie is probably a weird term but I believe it applies to KKJ (King Kong Jane). The songs are muscular and sinewy pop-rock with an 'indie' edge. Frontman Colin is an excellent focal point for the audience to hook on to as well. Personally, I believe that KKJ has the greatest potential to replicate the success of GSE (Great Spy Experiment) in mixing commercial and artistic concerns. One to watch out for in 2008..."
