We went down to the Rediffusion Studios on Friday night as guests for FrizzinFriday, a radio show on the RediStar Channel.
Friz was a great host, and basically introduced us to his listeners by asking us about our history, the debut album and our upcoming appearance on Live 'N' Loaded.
He also played 3 of our songs which will be appearing on the album, namely "If It Wasn't For You", "Lollipop" and "Stranger", which means they're no longer airplay virgins!
And since we're on the topic of radio, here's a recording of an on-air interview which took place on Power 98 about a month ago:
Press play to listen to my conversation with DJ Harry, and an acoustic version of "If It Wasn't For You", which was chosen as one of the Top 5 Local Songs of 2008 by the station.
(Big thanks to Weetz for the clever editing!)

Happy Cheena New Year!
Hello people! We hope you're enjoying the long weekend, and will get many ang baos over the next few days!
And before I go for my reunion dinner in a couple of hours, here are some updates on what we've been up to:
The Debut Album
I know we haven't revealed much about the progress of our debut album. So for the record, we've already recorded and mixed half of the songs that will be on it. The next couple of months will be spent mixing the rest of the songs that have already been recorded, after which the album will have to be sent abroad for mastering. We're also very close to deciding on the album title, which we will be announcing in due time, so do be patient!
New Songs
Besides spending most of our weekends working on the album with Leonard at Snakeweed, we've been fine-tuning a handful of new songs during jamming sessions. These include "Waiting For Friday", a breezy tune that might remind you of Travis or Death Cab For Cutie, an epic emo anthem, a cheeky number dedicated to girls with boyfriends in bands and an edgy song that we first tried to write a couple of years ago. We hope to debut at least one of them during our next gig at Tampines Mall on 7th Februrary!
Live 'n' Loaded
We went down to MediaCorp yesterday evening to film some footage for the show, which makes its debut on Channel 5 this coming Tuesday! We ourselves can't wait to see how the show will turn out, and do remember to look out for Episode 6 on 3rd March, which we are appearing on! Fyi, we should be performing "If It Wasn't For You" on the show =)
Youth.SG's Feed Me Campaign
If you've yet to visit Feed Me's official website, click on the flash banner that we've posted on the right! And if you watch MTV, do look out for us in ads about the campaign. Last but not least, we spent the bulk of yesterday working with Diya (of Project Superstar fame) on an original composition for the campaign, which you should be able to hear very soon!

Let's make it happen
The following video you are about to watch of "Lemonade" will not go down in history as our best performance of the song.
In fact, my vocals are all over the place because of how I over-exerted my voice for the songs that came before this closing number.
But I'm still posting this here, because of how the mass singalong right at the end was one of my favourite moments during our Marina Barrage countdown gig.

Update regarding Singapore Poly gig this Saturday
We'll be performing just outside the Auditorium of Singapore Polytechnic this Saturday at 12.30pm.
If you're coming by MRT, alight at Dover.
If you're driving, enter via Gate 8 along Commonwealth Ave West. Turn right, and head towards the Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre.
If you're coming by plane, you could consider hopping onto our private jet.

War of the sexes

So I was a guest on Point Blank a couple of nights ago, which is an online programme by Razor TV of The Straits Times. I had more fun on the show than I expected to, and basically had to argue, play and sing in a friendly battle of the sexes.
Here's the link to watch the online programme, which has been broken up into 3 parts:

Many thanks to Poh Kwan for having me on the show.
(I bet some of you tried to play the video by clicking on the above photo. Hur hur.)

It's not a house, but they're opening it anyway
Try as I may, I can't seem to find any mention of us on the official website of Singapore Polytechnic's Open House (even though we are featured in their print ads in magazines like 8 Days).
So you'll have to make do with this:
OMG we're performing for Singapore Polytechnic's Open House this coming Saturday at 12.30pm! Come join in the fun!

Razor TV beckons
If you can't already tell, we''re not exactly media-shy.
Which is why we've agreed to appear on Razor TV for a 'live' programme on Tuesday (6th Jan) night from 8 to 9pm.
We're not quite sure what we'll be doing exactly, but the producers have mentioned something about singing Rihanna's "Umbrella" and "Ruby" by Kaiser Chiefs on an XBox game.
By "we", we actually only mean Colin, which would be me.
And if you have no idea what Razor TV is, you might want to click here:

Hmm. I take it back. Don't click on it till 8pm on Tuesday night.
No no. Make that 7.59pm.

We'll always remember this one
A few hours before our countdown gig at the Marina Barrage, I got a call from Harry of Power 98, who informed me that "If It Wasn't For You" was in the Top 5 Local Songs of 2008.
It's the first time that one of our songs has been given such an accolade, and we're really grateful for all the blessings of 2008.
Which probably explains why I felt pretty emotional while watching the video that was playing on the huge screen during the countdown gig. It just felt very surreal to be standing on stage in front of thousands of people who were looking on at the fireworks, knowing that I was experiencing the first moments of a new year, and about to deliver one of the biggest gigs of my life.
And you know, it did turn out to be one of our best gigs ever in terms of audience reception. People were jumping, clapping, screaming and even moshing, and I can still vividly remember most of the faces I spotted in the crowd.
Have a great year ahead people, and here's a taste of our first gig of 2009:

For the archives
If you've yet to come across the copy of The Sunday Times that we were featured in recently, here's what you missed and what rocked our world:

Many thanks to Patrick, Eddino and Weetz for making the above possible =)

Excuse me while I kiss the sky
When PeepShow informed me of their set list for "Big Band Aid" at Safra Mount Faber, this was the only song that I hadn't heard of. Interestingly enough, it turned out to be one of the most fun songs to perform on stage.
Here's a video of the eventual performance: a cover of "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix, with a line from Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" thrown in right at the end.
