The wait is over! Here's our new music video for 'Stranger', track 5 of our debut album 'Waiting For Friday'!

'Stranger' is an atmospheric rock ballad that explores the missing connections between urbanites, and is one of the first original compositions we wrote.

Shot in Singapore, the music video for the song is produced and directed by up-and-coming talents Charmaine Lam, Elaine Ang and WenJian Teo.

When we released 'Waiting For Friday' in March this year, 'Stranger' was singled out by many of you as a standout track. So we're really excited to release a music video for the song, and are thankful to our friend Alex for introducing the song to Charmaine, Elaine and WenJian.

We've sold more than 500 copies of our album so far, so this music video is dedicated to everyone who has shown support for our music in one way or another. We hope you like what you see, and if you do, please share the video on Facebook or Twitter =)

This is the 3rd music video we've released for the album, but we plan to put out at least one more video within the next few months!

Performing in Jakarta

On 25th April, we got a call from the National Arts Council that really made our day.

Less than a week later, we found ourselves on a plane to Jakarta, where we eventually performed for the inaugural ASEAN Youth-Cultural Exchange Festival. (more about the festival HERE)

It's always been one of our dreams to perform overseas, so being selected to represent Singapore at such a prestigious festival was really exciting for us as a band. In all, we spent 3 days and 2 nights in Ancol, Jakarta, where we...

- were treated like rock stars (there were police cars leading the way for our bus!)

- rubbed shoulders with Indonesian diplomats (meals with governors and ministers!)

- made friends with regional bands (such as the talented boys from Indonesian band Meet Me By Sunrise)

- performed 'Waiting For Friday', 'If It Wasn't For You' and our cover of Rihanna's 'Umbrella'

And of course we took some photos along the way:

The Power98 interview with Sara

Last Friday, we went down to Power98 for a 'live' interview with DJ Sara Wee, who's also from the awesome local band 53A.

We didn't mange to take any photos or videos due to how Power98 is within CMPB, but it was great to finally meet Sara in person.

Also great was the fact that Sara played 3 songs from 'Waiting For Friday' for Power98 listeners, including the title track, 'If It Wasn't For You' and 'Lollipop'.

We made our 987 debut on Saturday, thanks to Rozz who we first met at Youth.SG's FEED ME campaign.

We were a little nervous about going on-air at first, but Rozz was such a darling that we really enjoyed ourselves in the end.

So the weekend that just passed was a pretty busy but awesome one.

Saturday was Mosaic Music Festival day for us, which began with an interview with a journalist from Malaysian newspaper The Star. We'll post up the article when it's out, and many thanks to the Esplanade for making the interview possible.

After our soundcheck at the Esplanade Concourse, we headed over to the Esplanade Library to be interviewed for a segment called In The House. It was quite nerve-wrecking to be interviewed in front of a seated audience, and the cameras and lighting made us feel like we were on TV. Nevertheless, the session went pretty well and we wrapped things up with a stripped down version of 'If It Wasn't For You'.

Our first acoustic set kicked off at 6.15pm, and we were glad to see many friends at the Concourse. But we were definitely more relaxed for our second set at 9.15pm, which ended on a good note with 'Lemonade'.

Gig Alert: Go Red For Women Picnic Day

We're going acoustic at Mosaic on Saturday, but Sunday will be a rocking affair at the Go Red For Women Picnic Day.

Presented by the Singapore Heart Foundation, this is an event for women to come together with their loved ones to relax, pick up healthy lifestyle tips and participate in exercise demonstrations aimed at raising awareness of having a healthy heart.

We'll be performing at around 5pm, but come down from 3pm onwards to check out a wide range of activities, including the maiden flight of the heart-shaped Go Red For Women kite, which will be breaking the Singapore Book of Records for the largest kite ever to take flight in Singapore.

Going acoustic at Mosaic

The Esplanade's Mosaic Music Festival has begun, and we're honoured to be part of the lineup for this coming Saturday (19th March).

At 4.30pm on that day, we'll be at the Esplanade Library for the In The House segment, to share our thoughts about producing our debut album Waiting For Friday.

At 6.15pm, we'll head over to the Esplanade Concourse to perform an acoustic set. A second set follows at 9.15pm.

Our Baybeats performance at the Esplanade took place in 2007, and now that we're performing songs from our debut album at Mosaic, it definitely feels like we've come full circle.

We hope to see you guys there, as we'll be performing acoustic versions of songs from Waiting For Friday, as well as a couple of brand new covers. Copies of our album will be on sale at The Esplanade Shop on that day too.

Feeling the love at Love-In

We had a blast performing at Love-In, which was a particularly meaningful gig for us.

'Waiting For Friday' went on sale for the first time ever, and it felt really surreal to see copies of the album being displayed at the merchandise booth.

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who bought a copy on that day, as well as those of you who came up to congratulate us after our set.

Heiwa is a collective of 6 Diploma in Arts Management students from LASALLE College of the Arts, who aim to raise awareness about domestic violence, change perceptions of how people can help, and spread the message of peace through music.

For the past few months, Heiwa has been putting together a picnic-style music concert that will take place at Hong Lim Park on 6th March. We're proud to be one of the acts in the lineup, which also includes Basement In My Loft, Etc, For This Cycle, Sean Harrison, The Pinholes, TypeWriter and Zahidah.

We've been waiting for years to say this, and now we can finally do so...

HERE IS THE COVER AND TRACK LISTING FOR 'WAITING FOR FRIDAY':

As you can see, there's a huge King Kong on the album cover. But if you look harder, you may spot a tiny Jane too.

The image containing the track listing is what you will see on the back of the album when it comes out in March. We worked with a kick-ass designer to conceptualise the visuals, and you'll get to see more of his awesome work in the album booklet.

Watch this space for an upcoming behind-the-scenes entry on how the artwork was put together.

We hope you can find your favourite King Kong Jane song in the track listing, which we finally settled on after numerous discussions and considerations. Not every song we recorded with Leonard Soosay at Snakeweed Studios made the final cut, and we decided to make 'Lemonade' the last song so that "Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh" will be stuck in your brain long after you've finished listening to the entire album...

A farewell note to 2010

As you can probably tell, our debut album isn't coming out this year. But if it isn't out in 2011, we'll change our name to KuKuJiao.

Having said that, 2010 was still pretty awesome.

Highlights for us would include debuting 'How Could You?' at the Esplanade, performing on the awesome YOG stage, covering a song by TypeWriter in front of TypeWriter, and releasing our very first full-length music video for 'Waiting For Friday'.

Coming up in the first half of 2011? The release of our debut album and a couple of gigs, including the Esplanade's Mosaic Music Festival, which we're really excited about.

So stay tuned for the dirty details, and have a great NYE and 2011 ahead!

Thank to you everyone who came down to watch us at Marina Promontory last night! We had such a blast thanks to the awesome stage and sound system, and we're really glad that so many of you turned up.

Apologies to those who had to leave halfway, as our set was pushed back due to unforseen circumstances beyond our control.

Nevertheless, last night will go down in history as one of our most memorable gigs, and here's our set list!

The official music video for 'Waiting For Friday' is out!

Directed by Nelson Yeo from NTU's School of Art, Design & Media, the music video is now showing (on a huge wall) at *SCAPE Youth Park where a Noise Singapore exhibition is being held from now till 26th August.

Many thanks to Noise Singapore for sponsoring the video, and also to Nelson and his team for all the creativity and hard work that went into the production of our first full-length music video.

So do head down to *SCAPE Youth Park this weekend to check out the exhibition, which also features works by other young musicians, photographers, artists and directors.

Stay tuned for more info about the music video, which brings us one step closer to the launch of our debut album!

If you're coming to watch us perform for YOG this Saturday, do take note of the following:

1) We'll be performing a 45min set that's scheduled to start at 6.15pm.

2) The venue is The Promontory @ Marina Bay, which is next to the NTUC building at One Marina Boulevard.

3) The best way to come would be to take the MRT, alight at Raffles Place and use exit J. You'll see the venue once you come to the ground level.

4) For those who are driving, I'm not sure where's the best place to park. But you might find the map that we've uploaded below helpful.

Last but not least, do help us to spread the word about this gig to all your friends. The stage and the sound system for this gig are really quite something, and we want to put on a good show for as many people as possible!

The Youth Olympic Games are just around the corner, and we're performing for it!

We'll be performing at a brand new venue called The Promontory, which is along Marina Boulevard and next to the building One Marina Boulevard.

Tonight's gonna be a good good night! See you at 7.30pm in the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre!

We're starting the 45min set with "If It Wasn't For You", and will also debut our new song titled "How Could You?"

King Kong Jane was formed in late 2005 when the guys were studying at NTU. Singer Colin Lim was invited by guitarist Ian Ho to sing for his hall’s jam band and he decided to ‘give it a shot’. Since then, the five of them have been playing as King Kong Jane.

Flash forward to 2010, the group is now established as one of the most exciting live acts in Singapore. They started as one of the new bands at Baybeats in 2007, and later took part and won Power98’s Powerjam band competition in 2008. Later that year, they were also accepted into Noise Singapore’s Apprenticeship Programme and were mentored by The Observatory’s Vivian Wang.

Their power-packed melodic songs, unpretentious aura and Colin’s charismatic stage presence have won them lots of admirers, me included. The band is currently in the mixing stage for their debut album with Leonard Soosay and will be hitting the Esplanade outdoor stage on Sunday in the weekend titled Rockin’ the Region: Singapore.

Our first wedding gig and some new band photos

We performed in Hort Park last Friday (with bow ties!) for our very first wedding gig. When Jianping first told me about the gig, I wasn't so sure how our music would go down at a wedding. Thankfully, no one threw shark's fin in our direction, although I really wish the unexpected interruption during our second song didn't happen.

Our Esplanade gig on Sunday was arguably one of the best we've had in quite a while.

I really like performing on the new Outdoor Stage, particularly for the sound system and how the venue seems to attract an audience that's appreciate of 'live' music by default.

The high points of the gig were provided by an uncle who spontaneously danced to our faster numbers, much to the amusement of ourselves and the audience. We got to speak to the uncle after we got off stage, and his zest for dancing was really endearing =)

Here's our set list for the gig, which was deliberately different from our usual one. For instance, we closed with "Crowded" for the first time!

The sun was shining like there was no tomorrow during our slot at 5.30pm, so we ended up sweating buckets and having an audience that mostly watched from at least a few miles away.

But we were really impressed with the elaborate stage and all the effort that the organisers put in to make this year's festival a success. To Kelly and co. from RP, thanks for having us this year.

Thanks to a bout of sickness, Ruishen wasn't in a previously released video of us performing for "Waiting For Friday".

Which makes this the first video featuring the song in its full glory =)

We were pretty blown away by the excellent sound during our soundcheck at Powerhouse in St James Power Station yesterday.

Mike Cho and Ark Analogy performed before us, and I was particularly impressed with the frontman of Ark Analogy, who's a great guitarist and singer. Really enjoyed watching Kevin perform "Gum" at the end of his set too.

It was fun to be able to tweet before going on stage, and thinking about Twitter actually led to me flubbing a couple of lines during "Crowded". But I was pretty happy with the set as a whole, thanks to a crowd that clapped and danced along to several of our songs.

We also played an as-yet-untitled new song, which Weetz has immortalised in the video below.
