Junk Magazine: "Out of the woodwork and into the spotlight, more and more new faces are emerging in the indie music scene in Singapore these days. This year's Baybeats indie music festival at Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay features 10 young, fledgling bands in its lineup of acts."

8 Days: "New York-based alt-rock group Mercury Rev kick-starts the festival on Aug 2 with a ticketed gig at the Esplanade Theatre. Other acts include King Kong Jane, Plain Sunset, The Sallys, Blindside and The Fire Fight."

Time Out Singapore: "Headlining act Utopium probably best epitomise the spirit of this year's Baybeats festival. Although the band is based in Paris, the members hail from Mexico, Russia and France. Support comes from Singapore's alternative-rockers King Kong Jane and Stentorian, as well as Malaysia's Azymul Yunor."
