The soundcheck ended around 6, and so we grabbed some dinner at the hawker centre. Unfortunately, it started to drizzle after 7pm, which resulted in our first set being pushed back to 7.45pm. The initial crowd was also smaller than we would have liked it to be, but we soldiered on by playing 5 originals, namely "Crowded", "My Brown Lollipop", "Stranger", "Uncle Now Study Where" and "Someday Somehow".
Thankfully, things picked up for our second set. Seeing more friends and members of the public gathered in front of the stage made me feel more confident, and we launched into our final set of the year with "No". More originals and covers followed, with "Umbrella" and our debut performance of "Last Christmas" going down rather well with the crowd.
But all this while, no one bothered to tell me that my buttcrack was showing! It was only after a couple of songs that I realised my shirt was too short and my jeans were hanging too low...
But anyway, I felt rather accomplished at the end of the gig, which we closed with "Hold On". In a way, this was the timeslot that we had wanted to play at for Baybeats. And though there could have been more people watching us, I think we delivered a relatively rousing show.
To those who came down to catch us perform, thank you for being part of our final gig of 2007. We would also like to thank the sound crew and organisers of the Esplanade, and those who sent us their well wishes.
Here are some photos from the soundcheck, as well as a video of "Last Christmas", courtesy of Weetz. Stay tuned for more photos from the gig itself...
Regards,
Colin
