We tend to groan when we're told to perform acoustically. Reasons include having to spend time working out new arrangements to our songs, and having to physically reign ourselves in when performing.
But on the other hand, acoustic gigs tend to bring us positive feedback, particularly from those who would rather not listen to a full-blown rock band, and also appreciate increased audibility of our lyrics.
But I think the greatest benefit of doing the occasional acoustic gig is that it takes us out of our comfort zone. Having to put a new twist to our original compositions allows us to interpret them in a way that's entirely different from what we're used to. In the long run, I guess it does a great deal of good to us as a band.
Here's a video of us performing an acoustic version of "Stranger" at Cineleisure, arguably the original composition that we managed to change most significantly for this gig.
Watch the video all the way till the end to catch a special guest appearance!
