A shot at the small screen

We've been approached to appear in a television show slated for next year, which will hopefully be a good thing for us if we're chosen.

They asked us to send in a bio of ourselves, along with a bit of the band's history and some demo tracks. Here's what we put together:

King Kong Jane bio
Formed in 2005, King Kong Jane is an indie rock band based in Singapore. In 2007, the band was chosen to perform for Baybeats, the largest indie music festival in Southeast Asia. Most recently, King Kong Jane performed for the Singapore Arts Festival, and was crowned as the winner of Power Jam 2008.

King Kong Jane consists of Jianping (drums), Ian (guitar), Colin (vocals), Ark (guitar) and Renquan (bass). The band is currently recording its debut album at Snakeweed Studios, and plans to release it in 2009.

The 5 members of King Kong Jane knew each other while studying in the same university. They soon found themselves in a jamming room on campus every other week, where they learnt to play covers by bands such as Muse and Franz Ferdinand. After performing for numerous campus gigs, the opportunity to audition for Baybeats 2007 came along, which led to them writing original compositions for the first time.

The band eventually made the cut for the indie music festival, and has since gone on to perform at various events and locations, including the Esplanade, Timbre, Home Club, The Arts House and even The Padang. Best known for their melodic pop rock numbers such as "Lollipop" and "If It Wasn't For You", King Kong Jane's biggest achievement to date is winning Power Jam 2008, one of Singapore's biggest band competitions.
