Last Friday, we went down to Power98 for a 'live' interview with DJ Sara Wee, who's also from the awesome local band 53A.
We didn't mange to take any photos or videos due to how Power98 is within CMPB, but it was great to finally meet Sara in person.
Also great was the fact that Sara played 3 songs from 'Waiting For Friday' for Power98 listeners, including the title track, 'If It Wasn't For You' and 'Lollipop'.
Thank you to those of you who tuned in, and if you'd like to hear any of those 3 songs on Power98 again, here's what you can do:
1) Vote for our songs to appear on The Power98 Countdown by texting: TPC [space] SONG TITLE to 9820 9800
2) Request for our songs by sending a Power SMS to 9820 9800
3) Call in to request for our songs by dialing 66911 980
We made our 987 debut on Saturday, thanks to Rozz who we first met at Youth.SG's FEED ME campaign.
We were a little nervous about going on-air at first, but Rozz was such a darling that we really enjoyed ourselves in the end.
If you didn't manage to tune in on Saturday evening, here are 2 videos containing footage of us speaking to Rozz + 'live' acoustic versions of album tracks 'Go Away' and 'If It Wasn't For You'.
The first review of our album appeared in TODAY a couple of weeks ago, courtesy of Kevin Mathews and Christopher Toh:
To our surprise, we woke up to news this morning that there's a review in today's issue of The Straits Times too. It still feels a little strange to read professional reviews of our album, but we're really thankful for all the support from local newspapers so far.
Many thanks to Kai Chai and Eddino for the following review:
We performed 2 acoustic covers at the Mosaic Music Festival: 'Someone Like You' by Adele and 'Animal' by Neon Trees.
'Animal' was a pretty challenging song to sing, so we hope what you like what we did with the song, including a little tribute to a Kelly Clarkson hit towards the end of this video:
Oh oh...I want somemore...Oh oh...what are you waiting for...
ENTRY: Free entry for the first hour (9pm – 10pm) and for those who turn up with a copy of ‘Waiting For Friday’, which will also be available at the door for $16. Otherwise, $12 per entry after 10pm inclusive of one standard drink. INCLUDES FREE ENTRY TO BEAT! AFTER
(Yes, we deliberately planned the Waiting For Friday party to take place at Home Club on a Friday (1st April). No, it's not a joke!)
Thank you for helping us to jump 9 spots from last week to overtake Justin Bieber and hit #4 on the HMV sales chart.
Just weeks ago, we never would have imagined being anywhere near the top 10, and yet here we are on the charts, among international bestsellers like Avril Lavigne, Bruno Mars and R.E.M.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us.
So the weekend that just passed was a pretty busy but awesome one.
Saturday was Mosaic Music Festival day for us, which began with an interview with a journalist from Malaysian newspaper The Star. We'll post up the article when it's out, and many thanks to the Esplanade for making the interview possible.
After our soundcheck at the Esplanade Concourse, we headed over to the Esplanade Library to be interviewed for a segment called In The House. It was quite nerve-wrecking to be interviewed in front of a seated audience, and the cameras and lighting made us feel like we were on TV. Nevertheless, the session went pretty well and we wrapped things up with a stripped down version of 'If It Wasn't For You'.
Our first acoustic set kicked off at 6.15pm, and we were glad to see many friends at the Concourse. But we were definitely more relaxed for our second set at 9.15pm, which ended on a good note with 'Lemonade'.
Here are the songs we performed for both sets, including the Adele and Neon Trees covers which we did for the first time:
Set 1: Lollipop Go Away So Love! Animal (Neon Trees cover) If It Wasn't For You Someone Like You (Adele cover) Waiting For Friday
Set 2: If It Wasn't For You Stranger Animal (Neon Trees cover) Waiting For Friday Someone Like You (Adele cover) How Could You? Go Away Lemonade
Then came Sunday aka Go Red For Women Picnic Day, which saw us heading to Sengkang for a soundcheck at 1.30pm and a performance at 5.30pm. Many thanks to Jason and his team for having us, and congratulations on the post-event media coverage!
We're now in the process of editing some videos that were filmed during these gigs, but here's the first of several videos to come:
Our performance of 'Waiting For Friday' during our second set for the Mosaic Music Festival!
We've come to the second last video from the 'Waiting For Friday with...' series, and this one features singer Tan Diya, also known as one half of pop duo The Freshman!
We've known Diya for several years now, and even wrote a song called 'Our Secret' together with her a couple of years ago, when we were both ambassadors for Youth.SG's FEED ME campaign.
Check out how Diya manages to spoof both blogger sixpegs and one of her own songs in this video:
We're going acoustic at Mosaic on Saturday, but Sunday will be a rocking affair at the Go Red For Women Picnic Day.
Presented by the Singapore Heart Foundation, this is an event for women to come together with their loved ones to relax, pick up healthy lifestyle tips and participate in exercise demonstrations aimed at raising awareness of having a healthy heart.
We'll be performing at around 5pm, but come down from 3pm onwards to check out a wide range of activities, including the maiden flight of the heart-shaped Go Red For Women kite, which will be breaking the Singapore Book of Records for the largest kite ever to take flight in Singapore.
Fore more information, check out http://www.goredforwomen.sg and make a date with us on Sunday. We'll be performing songs from Waiting For Friday, which will be on sale at the event too.
We never thought we would be able to say this, but we actually have an album that's on the HMV sales chart:
This is truly an amazing time for us as a band, and we're really grateful for the support from all of you so far.
Thank you for buying the album, thank you for congratulating us, thank you for retweeting our tweets, thank you for sharing our videos, thank you for liking our Facebook posts, thank you for coming to our gigs and thank you for making us believe in ourselves like we never have before.
That's right, you can now get a copy of our album delivered right to your doorstep.
Simply purchase Waiting For Friday via the hyperlink below, and the good people at Getup Merch will ensure that our debut album reaches you within a couple of days.
The Esplanade's Mosaic Music Festival has begun, and we're honoured to be part of the lineup for this coming Saturday (19th March).
At 4.30pm on that day, we'll be at the Esplanade Library for the In The House segment, to share our thoughts about producing our debut album Waiting For Friday.
At 6.15pm, we'll head over to the Esplanade Concourse to perform an acoustic set. A second set follows at 9.15pm.
Our Baybeats performance at the Esplanade took place in 2007, and now that we're performing songs from our debut album at Mosaic, it definitely feels like we've come full circle.
We hope to see you guys there, as we'll be performing acoustic versions of songs from Waiting For Friday, as well as a couple of brand new covers. Copies of our album will be on sale at The Esplanade Shop on that day too.
'Waiting For Friday' has been on sale in HMV stores since last Friday, and it's been awesome to hear from those of you who have already bought a copy of the album.
Thank you for keeping our dreams alive.
Over the weekend, we went down to HMV stores in both 313@Somerset and CityLink Mall to take a look, and were beyond thrilled to see the album being displayed on shelves:
Other than HMV, we're proud to announce that the album is now available in Gramophone stores too.
Gramophone stores can be found in the following locations, so do help us to spread the word!
1. The Cathay 2. The Centrepoint 3. Jurong Point 4. Ngee Ann City 5. One Raffles Place 6. Parkway Parade
We had a blast performing at Love-In, which was a particularly meaningful gig for us.
'Waiting For Friday' went on sale for the first time ever, and it felt really surreal to see copies of the album being displayed at the merchandise booth.
We would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who bought a copy on that day, as well as those of you who came up to congratulate us after our set.
To the organisers of Love-In, thank you for having us and for being so awesome to work with over the past few months. Many thanks for playing songs from our album in between sets too!
Next up on the gig calendar?
- 19th March, Sat: 2 acoustic sets at the Esplanade's Mosaic Music Festival - 20th March, Sun: Performing for Go Red For Women Picnic Day in Sengkang - 1st April, Fri: The 'Waiting For Friday' album release party at Home Club
Yes, there's going to be an album release party at Home Club on 1st April (no kidding), and we'll be performing our ENTIRE album on that night. Details are still being worked out, but please keep that Friday night free for now!
Last but not least, copies of 'Waiting For Friday' will be on sale at all of these upcoming gigs, but you can also get them in HMV stores at 313@Somerset and CityLink Mall.
Lemonade is the final track in our debut album, and was once named "The Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Song".
Some of you may remember this as the song that the famous dancing uncle boogied to at the Esplanade, and some of you may have noticed that it's the song that we love to end our gigs with.

All of these people are great at what they do, and it's been really interesting to find out what Fridays mean to each of them.
